The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is a voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancers. Since 1955, the LLSC has focused on funding Canadian Blood Cancer Research and providing education and support services for patients and their families. Our mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. The unique challenge with blood cancer is that there is no early warning system – no prevention, no screening or early detection. For this reason we are focused on improving treatments and finding cures. Blood cancers can affect anyone regardless of age or ethnicity which is why research is so critical. Although survival rates have improved leukemia is still the most commonly diagnosed cancer in children. To achieve our mission we rely on the generous support of individuals, corporate partners and funds raised thru special events. The LLSC doesn’t receive government funding. The LLSC is currently funding 41 Canadian research grants in 22 institutions and providing support to patients and their families across Canada.
