Title: Drug Resistant Infections: What Happens When Antibiotics Don't Work?
Antibiotics are cornerstone drugs of modern medicine, responsible not only for curing infections but for preventing them. Drug resistant infections are on the rise and are threatening the usefulness of antibiotics. What is behind this growing crisis and what can we do about it? Dr. Wright describes his team's research to understand the origins of resistance as a guide for new solutions to the problem.
Dr. Wright is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences and Director of the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research at McMaster University.
