COPEing with Toddler Behaviour is an 8-week parenting workshop lead by McMaster Children's Hospital (Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation) and the Independent Parenting Program. It has been designed to introduce parents of children 12-36 months to the idea that one of the important principles of healthy parenting is to “Know Your Child”. Knowing how a toddler develops helps parents know what to expect from their toddler. This helps them understand when a child is simply being a typical toddler. If parents know what to expect at this age, then they’ll be less likely to be annoyed or aggravated when their child does something. This workshop involves video problem solving, practice exercises, and helps parents to plan proactively for activities and interactions with their toddler.
COPEing with Toddler Behaviour is starting at Family Church of Heritage Green on Wednesday evenings from April 4th to May 23rd from 6:00-8:00 pm. Limited free childcare, transportation assistance and weekly prize draws are all part of the program.
Visit mcmasterchildrenshospital.ca/IPP or mchcommunityed.ca to register or call 905-521-2100 ext. 77406 if you have any questions!
Missed Class Policy:
Parents must attend either session 1 or 2 in order to attend the remaining sessions. We also ask that parents commit to attending at least 6 of the 8 sessions. The group is led by the facilitators but it really depends on small group work and discussion amongst participants.
