Isaac Buchanan arrived in Canada in 1830 at the age of 19. Over his lifetime he went from clerk in Montreal, to business owner in Toronto and Hamilton. He settled in Hamilton where he pursued a diverse career as businessman, writer and politician. He also created Clairmont Park, a country estate featuring a picturesque manor house called Auchmar.
Author Bill King will tell the story of Buchanan and his legacy, Auchmar. Copies of his new book, Buchanan of Auchmar, will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
There is no admission charge. Free parking is available in the church lot. Refreshments will be served.
