Sam Holladay + LOBO
June 15 — Mills Hardware
“Happy sad power pop” is the somewhat ambiguous term that Post Romance, an alternative indie band based in Hamilton, ON, uses to describe themselves. In an age where genre becomes less defined by the day, they see no reason to lock themselves in a pre-existing bracket. But honestly, the band (consisting of Emman Alavata, Victor Zhang, Marco Goldblatt, and Jaden Raso) just wants to make something that sounds cool.
Through their electrifying live performances, the members of Post Romance have proven that the project is something larger than the sum of its parts. The anthemic melodies, hard-hitting beats and guitar antics combine in a sea… of emotion and energy. The result is a show like none other – one that pulls you in as the first chord strikes and doesn’t let go until you’ve wrung your heart dry.
Post Romance’s upcoming EP is a collection of thoughts on anxiety, fear of comfort, and worry of the future. It’s the sound of mania and chaos that manifests upon itself in the state of absence. Entirely self-produced, the record presents its messages with a sense of vulnerability, pulling at and connecting with the listener’s deepest worries. The instrumental backdrop is lively and unrelenting, capturing the perfect storm of ennui, panic, and youthful daydreaming.
Influenced by the likes of Radiohead, Arcade Fire and PUP, the band holds high standards for their work. But in addition to their desire to write albums they can be proud of, they want to bring good times to wherever they may be performing. Fierce and passionate, Post Romance will have your heart pounding the moment their music fills the room.
