This event intends to engage male-identified persons at McMaster University and the surrounding area of Hamilton in sexual violence prevention by starting a conversation about consent and the social construction and socialization of masculinity as it intersects with gender-based violence. The event will be in a presentation format, delivered on campus by Tristan Abbott of the Calgary Sexual Health Centre‘s WiseGuyz program.

The commitment to preventing and ending sexual violence is lifelong. While we realize that this event is singular and not all-encompassing, it is an important first step in the process of creating a safer space on and off campus. This event is being supported by Meaghan Ross, the Sexual Violence Response Coordinator at McMaster, the Sexual Assault Centre of Hamilton (SACHA), the Student Wellness Centre, the Women and Gender Equity Network (WGEN), and the McMaster Student Union. Your participation will show incredible support to these amazing organizations, to survivors of sexual violence, to the university, and to everyone wanting to make campus safer.

All proceeds will be donated to SACHA.

This event is funded through the generosity of Ryan Clarke of Advocacy Solutions in accordance with the Ryan & Leanne Clarke Advocacy and Active Citizenship Prize.
